Day 288
Tin Wedding Whistle by Ogden Nash
Though you know it anyhow
Listen to me, darling, now,
Proving what I need not prove
How I know I love you, love.
Near and far, near and far,
I am happy where you are;
Likewise I have never larnt
How to be it where you aren’t.
Far and wide, far and wide,
I can walk with you beside;
Furthermore, I tell you what,
I sit and sulk where you are not.
Visitors remark my frown
Where you’re upstairs and I am down,
Yes, and I’m afraid I pout
When I’m indoors and you are out;
But how contentedly I view
Any room containing you.
In fact I care not where you be,
Just as long as it’s with me.
In all your absences I glimpse
Fire and flood and trolls and imps.
Is your train a minute slothful?
I goad the stationmaster wrothful.
When with friends to bridge you drive
I never know if you’re alive,
And when you linger late in shops
I long to telephone the cops.
Yet how worth the waiting for,
To see you coming through the door.
Somehow, I can be complacent
Never but with you adjacent.
Near and far, near and far,
I am happy where you are;
Likewise I have never larnt
How to be it where you aren’t.
Then grudge me not my fond endeavor,
To hold you in my sight forever;
Let none, not even you, disparage
Such a valid reason for a marriage.
Listen to me, darling, now,
Proving what I need not prove
How I know I love you, love.
Near and far, near and far,
I am happy where you are;

… and great shot!
I was the impromptu photographer when the hired hack backed out at the last minute. My niece’s best friend just got a new Nikon and wanted to do the whole thing, but it was one of those, “Just because you have the equipment doesn’t mean you can do the job” things, so I used her as my secondary. Great day!
Fabulous! 😉
Thank you, Antoinette! It was a fabulous day!
Fabulous shot! I particularly adore the shoes on the bride and groom. 🙂
She was going to wear traditional shoes and her hubby told her she should just go ahead and wear some new Chucks. I think it was a good choice too!
Wonderful ! 😀
Such a happy photo, and I just love the matching shoes for bride and groom.
Congrats to both on the wedding and congrats to you for the wonderful photo. 🙂
Thank you Sallyann! For such an impromptu photography job, I am really happy with it all. I am editing, editing, editing right now!
You’ve captured such a wonderful moment here, great work! And the shoes…well, you know I have a thing for taking pics of shoes…love them 🙂 Looks like it would have been such a fun day
And the weather was positively perfect too! What more could we ask for?
What an awesome photograph!! And she is officially in my book of cool people for wearing those shoes at her wedding. 😀
Oh, she is truly one of those cool people! They were all surprised when I asked them to jump, but then most people expect the traditional most of the time…
Amazing photo Cyndi!!
Loved it!! Did you use an external flashlight??
Love the colors and the joy in this photo!
I used existing light only, Pablo – there was great diffused light in this portico, so I didn’t need anything else! Boy, was I happy!
Adorable photo of a fabulous wedding party. You: SuperAuntie to the rescue!!! Spectacular. And of course made all the more perfect with the magical accompaniment on a Tin Whistle by our dearly beloved Ogden Nash. Heavenly.
As I STILL edit photos a week later, I am not feeling like SuperAuntie! I am weary! And with each photo, I get all watery and have to stop for a few minutes. It is CRAZY!
Aww! Congrats to your niece! 😀 And you – a new nephew! 🙂
Love their shoes. 😀
And he is a very cool nephew, as evidenced by the shoes HE picked for them to be married in!
