Day 220 – It Sparkles Like Glass

It Sparkles Like Glass

Day 220 –

Fire and Ice by Robert Frost

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
Samantha and I took in a ice sculpture festival in nearby Shipshewana this evening.  Actually, we took in the dregs of the festival as the ice melted from crumbling sculptures and ran in little streams along the darkened sidewalks and streets.  It was hard to tell what some of the sculptures were after the relative warmth of the day got to them, but what was left of each was so sparkly and pretty.  I really couldn’t decide which photo I liked the best tonight and as a result, I am posting five of them.  Unheard of!!!!  And now I am off to look at the backs of my eyelids for a few hours and maybe a sweet dream or two.  Have a lovely Friday, dear friends; I will try to visit you all throughout the day.  Muah!

  1. Love ’em!! Glimmery, shimmery, sparkling, bejeweled and beveled beauties. Sweet compositions. I suspect these images are more lovely even than any of the original sculptures could have been. Were they lit in color, or is that your addition? Soooo pretty. They make me happy. Yay! And who could not love that great classic by the so-aptly named Frost? Best of all, the coming from someone who sounds more rested and peaceful than in a while. I am so glad, my dear!

    • December 27th is over once more and just having that day pass lifts more of a burden than can be imagined. Alas, I am not well rested though! I have been going through hundreds of photos taken during the Imagine Christmas odyssey and trying to narrow them down – I finally settled with 150 and now am getting ready to print them and bind them into a book for Bonnie Booko, the director of the show.

And those colors? They are all as shot with just small levels adjustments and a slight unsharp mask.

    • When I started this, I was posting more than one. I took a sanity break and when I came back to it I was determined to post just one per day. Well, you know what they say about good intentions…..

    • I am willing to share anything that I know! Just let me know anything you would like me to tell you about anything I have done and I will try to figure out how I did it for you!
